He contributed significantly to the worldwide recognition of artists of the international post-1945 avant-garde, such as Louise Bourgeois, John Chamberlain, Lucio Fontana, Jannis Kounellis, Fausto Melotti, Pierre Soulages, and Cy Twombly. His intimate face-to-face contact with these artists provided the base for the quality of his gallery program. In addition to these highly acclaimed artistic positions, GALERIE KARSTEN GREVE always works closely and for many years with more than fifty artists represented by the gallery, among them Gotthard Graubner, Pierrette Bloch, Qiu Shihua, Ding Yi, and Leiko Ikemura. Furthermore there is constant collaboration with art photographers, such as Lynn Davis, Sally Mann, Sergio Vega, Robert Polidori, and Thomas Brummett. The ambitious approach of the gallery is characterized by a high diversity of artistic genres these belonging to the classic media painting, drawing and graphic arts, sculpture and installation as well as photography. The gallery’s program is continuously expanded to include rising young artists like Georgia Russell, Claire Morgan, Gideon Rubin, and Raúl Illarramendi. Karsten Greve, born in 1946, studied in Cologne, Lausanne and Geneva. He started his career as an art dealer and publisher in 1969. From 1970 onwards he operated the Möllenhof/Greve gallery. He established his first own gallery in 1973, with a solo exhibition by Yves Klein in Cologne. In 1989 he opened additional premises in Paris (rue Debelleyme) and in 1999 in St. Moritz (Via Maistra). GALERIE KARSTEN GREVE ranks as a leading gallery worldwide and is regularly represented at international art fairs such as all ART BASEL shows, FIAC and TEFAF.
