Yiorgos Kordakis was born in Athens, Greece in 1973. He studied automotive design in automotive design in Turin and media management in London. He then returned to Greece to serve the Greek Air Force. Since 1997 he has been working as a professional photographer. He has published three books: Moments in Greece, a series of black and white photographs, Greek White, a colour publication on contemporary interior architecture and design and The New Face of Athens, a book on Athens. His photographs have been published in international magazines such as Condé Nast Traveller UK, Vogue UK, AD (Russia), Elle (Italy, China), ID USA and Côté Sud France.
Fascinated by the combination of blurred surfaces and vibrant colours, Yiorgos Kordakis mainly uses the polaroid camera to make his photographs, giving the images both a surreal and poetic character to the images.
On the occasion of the exhibition of Yiorgos Kordakis at the Fernet-Branca Foundation, two series will be exhibited: 10 000 American Movies and Global Summer.
The exhibition is accompanied by a catalogue.
